How Vybe Tokens work

What a request is charged, what is free, and where to see your balance.

Vybe Tokens pay for Perlin's work, and nothing else. You spend them when Perlin makes a new piece, changes one or answers a question about it, and each request is charged for what it actually took: a small tweak costs a few tokens, a big new game with sound costs more. Once a piece exists, everything you do with it is free.

Perlin works for signed-in accounts, and every new account starts with 150 tokens. The public tokens page shows what a typical request comes to at each effort level, with a calculator for what your tokens make.

What uses tokens

  • A new piece, from an idea in Perlin's prompt box.
  • An edit, any follow-up message that changes a piece.
  • A question you ask Perlin about a piece, even when it changes nothing.
  • What Perlin makes for a piece along the way. With Sound FX on, each sound effect Perlin composes adds a few tokens. Painted textures and 3D models are charged the same way, by what they took. Switch them off and they cost nothing.
  • Generating assets in the Generate assets panel: images, sprites, logos, textures, 3D models, sound effects and music for your library. The panel shows about what each one takes before you send it.

The effort level you pick matters most. Higher effort means deeper thinking and richer pieces, and uses more tokens. See Effort levels.

What is free

  • Playing any piece, in the studio, the gallery or the community.
  • Remixing, tuning the controls, and editing the code by hand.
  • Sharing, publishing, and every kind of export: HTML, stills, clips, video renders, wallpapers, avatars and embeds.
  • Failed requests. If Perlin can't finish something, you don't pay for it.
  • Fixes. When a piece breaks, Perlin repairs it free, up to 20 fixes in any 24 hours. That covers the repairs Auto-fix sends by itself and the ones you ask for with Fix with AI or Fix. After the twentieth, a fix is charged like any other request.

One exception to "failed is free": if a request had already made 3D models before it failed, those models are in your asset library to keep, and they are charged.

How a request is charged

Every request goes through three steps.

  1. Held. When the request starts, the effort level's minimum is set aside from your balance. This is how two requests running at once can never spend the same tokens.
  2. Built. Perlin imagines, writes, checks and runs the piece. A bigger idea takes more work.
  3. Settled. You're charged what the request actually took, to the token. Anything set aside but not used comes straight back.

What you need to start a request at each level:

EffortTokens needed to start
MaxNot on offer yet
High60
Medium5
Low10

The minimum is only what's held while Perlin works, not the price. A request can settle for less than it held, or for more when the work was bigger. The Effort menu in the prompt box shows each level's minimum beside it as "from 60", and as "needs 60" when your balance is too low for it.

Stopping a request

Press Stop while Perlin is working and the request ends there. You pay only for the work done up to that point, and the rest of what was held comes back.

When you run low

The studio tells you before you send a request your balance can't start.

  • If a lighter level fits, the line under the prompt box says so, for example "High effort needs 60 tokens and you have 12." Click Switch to Medium, or get more tokens to open the token shop.
  • If no level fits, it says Not enough Vybe Tokens left for Perlin., or You're out of Vybe Tokens. at zero, with a Get more link.

Levels your balance can't start are greyed out in the Effort menu.

Where your balance shows

  1. In the top bar

Once you're signed in, your balance sits at the top of every page and in the studio's top bar, beside a coin. After a request settles, what it used shows next to it for a moment, such as "−14". Click the balance to open your Plan page, or the plus beside it to open the token shop.

  2. In the conversation

Each of Perlin's replies shows what it used, such as "−14 tokens". Under the prompt box, a quiet line adds them up: "This piece has used 52 tokens."

  3. On your Plan page

Go to Account, then Plan. The Vybe Tokens card shows what you have left, each level's minimum, and links to How tokens work and Redeem a code. Below it, Recent activity lists your latest requests, top-ups and gifts.

Reading recent activity

Each line in Recent activity says what it was for, when, and how many tokens it added or took.

On your own AI key

With Pro, Perlin can run on your own AI key. Then no effort level needs tokens to start, and the AI's work is billed to your key. Sound effects, textures and 3D models are still charged in tokens. See Perlin on your own AI key.
