Share and export

Share links and publishing

Share a piece by link, or publish it to the community.

There are two ways to let other people play a piece. Share gives the version on stage a short link that only the people you send it to will find. Publish puts the piece on the community page and under Recent on the home page, with your name on it, for anyone to play and remix.

Both buttons sit in the studio's top bar, next to Export. On a phone they show as icons: a chain link for Share and a globe for Publish.

Either way, anyone who opens the link can play the piece and remix it into a piece of their own.

  1. Get the version you want on stage

The link holds the version on stage exactly as it is now: its code, its title and the values of its controls. Set the sliders where you want them first. The link takes the piece's title, so click the title in the top bar if you want to rename it.

  2. Open Share

Click Share in the top bar. The popover prepares the link and captures a frame of the stage as its preview image, so share while the piece looks its best.

  3. Copy or open the link

Click Copy link to put it on your clipboard, or Open to see the page in a new tab. The link looks like vybe.art/s/Hk3mQ9xTz2.

Sharing the same version again gives you the same link, however many times you open the popover. Change anything, a line of code, a slider, the title, and the next share is a new link. Links you have already sent keep showing what they showed.

The Post a clip row in the same popover turns the piece into a short video for X or Instagram, with the link in the caption. See Posting a clip.

Publishing to the community

  1. Sign in

Publishing takes an account, because a published piece carries your name. Signed out, the Publish popover offers Create an account and Sign in, and brings you back to the studio afterwards.

  2. Open Publish

Click Publish in the top bar. The popover checks whether the piece is already published and says Publish this piece when it isn't.

  3. Publish it

Click Publish. The piece goes up under Recent on the home page and on the community page, newest first, and the studio says "Published to the community".

A piece has one place on the community page. Its link is the same short link sharing gives you, so once a version is published, Share hands out that published link and says so.

Shortly after a piece is published, VYBE.ART tags it (Calm, Game, Space and so on) so people can find it by tag and by search. Up to six of those tags show on the piece's page. See Browsing and searching.

Updating a published piece

Edits you make after publishing stay in the studio. When the version on stage is newer than what's published, the Publish popover says Published, with newer edits.

  1. Open Publish

Click Publish in the top bar.

  2. Update it

Click Update published piece. The community page now shows the version on stage. The piece keeps its link, its views, its favourites and its place in the listings.

Everything that points at the published link follows the update: the piece's page, and any embed made from the published version. Plain share links of other versions don't change.

Unpublishing

You can take a piece off the community page in either of two places.

  • From the studio. Open the piece, click Publish, then Unpublish. The studio says "Removed from the community".
  • From your account. Go to Creations and find the piece under Shared & published. Each share there has a pill that reads Published or Link only: click it to switch between the two.

Unpublishing takes the piece off the listings. It doesn't switch the link off: anyone who has the link can still open it, as with any share link. An unpublished piece also drops out of a competition it was entered in until you publish it again.

The link opens the piece full screen. Over it are its title, the engine it runs on, your name and picture (which lead to your profile), a Follow button and the piece's tags. Along the top are:

  • Favourite, the heart, with how many people have favourited it.
  • Wallpaper, to make a wallpaper or avatar from it. See Wallpapers and avatars.
  • A paper plane to post a clip of it to X or Instagram.
  • A code button to embed it on another site (not on phones). See Embedding a piece.
  • Full screen.
  • Remix in studio (Remix on a phone), which opens the studio with a copy of the piece to change. See Remixes and credit.

After a few seconds with nothing happening, the title and buttons fade so the piece has the whole screen, and every tap and click goes to the piece. To bring them back, click the eye button in the top-right corner, or press any key.
