Accounts and signing in
What works without an account, what needs one, and what happens to your pieces when you sign in.
You can open the studio and play with pieces without signing in. An account is what lets you work with Perlin, publish to the community and keep your own assets, and it's what carries your pieces from one device to another.
Without an account
Signed out, you can:
- Open the studio and play any piece in the gallery or on the community page.
- Remix a piece, tune its parameters, and edit its code by hand and run it.
- Share a piece by link, and export it as a file, a clip, a wallpaper or embed code.
The pieces you make are tied to the browser you made them in. A cookie in that browser connects it to them, so clearing your cookies disconnects that browser from those pieces. Signing in keeps them safe with your account.
What needs an account
- Perlin. Building pieces, changing them, plans and Fix with AI all take an account. Signed out, Perlin's panel shows Create an account to get started with Perlin in place of the prompt box.
- Publishing. Published pieces carry their creator's name, so Publish asks you to sign in. Share links work without one.
- Your asset library. Uploading and generating images, fonts, 3D models, audio and video. The Assets drawer shows Create an account to keep your own assets until you sign in.
- Favourites and follows. The heart and Follow buttons take you to sign in, then back to the page you were on.
- Vybe Tokens, token packs and Pro, and redeeming a promo code.
- Entering a competition.
- Posting a clip in one click. Linking an X or Instagram account needs you signed in. Without it, the clip dialog gives you the clip and caption to download or copy instead.
Creating an account
Start from the studio or any page
In the studio, click Create an account in Perlin's panel, or Sign in at the top right of any page if you already have one.
Fill in the sign-up form
Follow the steps on the sign-up page, headed "Keep everything you make." Already have an account? The sign-in page works the same way.
Carry on where you were
You come back to the studio once you're in. If you wrote a prompt before signing up (on the home page, say), it's waiting in the prompt box: the panel tells you "Your prompt will be waiting for you" while you sign up.
New accounts start with 150 Vybe Tokens to spend on Perlin's work. See How Vybe Tokens work.
What happens to your pieces when you sign in
Signing in brings what this browser made while signed out into your account: its pieces with their versions and conversations, the links you shared and the pieces you favourited. This happens the first time you sign in, and again every later time you sign in on that browser after working signed out.
From then on your pieces follow your account. Sign in with the same account on another computer, tablet or phone and they're there, with their full version history.
When you sign out, the browser forgets your account's pieces. They stay with your account and come back when you sign in again. The same happens when someone else signs in on that browser: it lets go of the last account's pieces before loading theirs. Anything you make while signed out stays with the browser, and joins your account the next time you sign in there.
Your account pages
Your account has these tabs:
| Tab | What's there |
|---|---|
| Creations | Your Pieces, each opening in the studio, and everything you've Shared & published. Each shared piece shows Published or Link only; click it to switch. |
| Favourites | The pieces you've hearted. |
| Following | The creators you follow and what they've published. |
| Plan | Your plan, your Vybe Tokens and what they were spent on. |
| AI keys | Running Perlin on your own AI key, with a Pro account. See Perlin on your own AI key. |
| Profile | Your name, picture, email address, password, connected accounts and signed-in sessions. |
Public profile at the top of the page shows your profile as everyone else sees it: your name and picture, the month you joined, your published pieces and your follower counts.
The same pages are in the menu under your picture at the top right of any page.
Deleting your account
Delete your account from the Profile tab of your account page. To delete pieces one at a time instead, open My pieces in the studio, point at a piece, click the bin beside it, then Delete? to confirm. The piece on stage has no bin; open another first. To ask for a copy of your data, or for it to be deleted (including a share link you can no longer reach), email create@vybe.art. The privacy policy has the details.
