Community
Browsing and searching
The community page, its carousels, filters, tags and search.
The community page holds every piece people have published from the studio: art, games, instruments and sound pieces, newest first. Open any of them to play it live, favourite it, or remix it into a piece of your own. It's open to everyone, with or without an account.
Find it under Community in the site's header and footer. The newest pieces also show under Recent on the home page.
What the page shows
When the page shows everything, two rows lead it:
- Featured Vybes, the larger row, holds pieces picked by the VYBE.ART team.
- On Fire 馃敟 holds the twelve pieces the most people have favourited, the newest first among equal counts.
Each row scrolls sideways, with arrows when there's more than fits. A row with nothing in it is left out. Below them, under Newest, is every published piece, most recent first.
As soon as you pick a filter, a tag or a search, the rows step aside and the page goes straight to the results.
Reading a card
Each card shows the piece's preview, title and engine, and:
- the creator's picture, which leads to their profile
- Game or Audio when it's one of those
- when it was published and how many times it's been opened
- Remix when it started from someone else's piece. See Remixes and credit.
- a heart with the number of favourites. Click it to favourite the piece yourself (you'll be asked to sign in first if you aren't).
Click the card to open the piece's page, where it plays full screen.
Filtering
The buttons beside the page's title narrow it to one kind of piece at a time:
| Filter | Shows |
|---|---|
| All | Everything |
| WebGL 3D | 3D pieces |
| GLSL | Shader pieces |
| Canvas 2D | 2D sketches |
| Games | Pieces that play as games: they keep score, end, or have levels |
| Audio | Pieces with sound that aren't games |
A filter stays on while you search or pick a tag, so you can look for, say, calm shader pieces.
Browsing by tag
Every published piece is tagged automatically, shortly after it's published, from a fixed list: what it is (Toy, Generative, Simulation, Instrument), the kind of game (Puzzle, Racing, Platformer), how it looks (Neon, Retro, Pixel art, Minimal), how it feels (Calm, Dark, Playful), what it shows (Space, Water, Nature) and how it's made (Particles, Fractal, Raymarching). A piece is tagged again when its creator publishes new content.
The tags most in use sit beside the search box. Click one to see only pieces with that tag, newest first. Click it again, or Clear, to go back. The tags on a piece's own page lead to the same list.
Searching
Type in Search pieces. The results follow what you type: after a short pause the page updates in place, from the second letter on. Search looks at titles, tags and the keywords each piece is given when it's published.
A few things that help:
- Words match from the start. "aur" finds Aurora, "geo" finds Geometric. You don't need to finish a word.
- Every word counts. Pieces with all your words come first, then those with only some.
- Titles and tags count most. A match in a title or a tag ranks above a match in a piece's keywords.
- Everyday words find tags. "chill" and "relaxing" find pieces tagged Calm, "spooky" finds Dark, "trippy" finds Psychedelic, and "colorful" finds Colourful.
- Slips at the end are forgiven. When a search finds nothing, it tries again with the last few letters of your last word cut off.
Search combines with the filter and the tag you've picked. When nothing matches, the page says Nothing matches, and Clear the search starts again. Try fewer or different words.
Scrolling for more
The page loads more pieces as you scroll towards the end, so you can keep going without clicking. If the connection drops, a Load more button asks again.
