Assets

Previewing and downloading

Look at, listen to and turn your assets, select several and download them.

Before you build an asset into a piece, it helps to see it properly: whether a logo really has a transparent background, how a font looks at headline size, what a model looks like from behind, how a sound ends. The asset viewer shows each kind of asset at a size you can judge, and the library downloads one file or a whole folder's worth.

Listening in place

An audio tile in the library has a play button on it. Click it to hear the sound without opening anything; a bar along the tile's foot shows how far it has played. One sound plays at a time across the studio, so starting another stops the first.

Opening the viewer

  1. Find the asset

Open Assets (A), and pick a folder or a kind to narrow what's on show.

  2. Open it

Point at a tile and click the button in its top left corner (Preview), or double-click the tile. On a touch screen the button is always showing.

  3. Step through

Press ← and →, or click the arrows at the sides, to move through the assets on show. The header says where you are, as in "3 of 12".

  4. Close it

Press Esc, click the ×, or click outside the viewer.

What the viewer shows

KindIn the viewer
ImageAt full size over a grid of checks, which show only where the image is see-through. An image of 128 pixels or less, often pixel art, is enlarged in whole pixels so it stays crisp
FontA sample sentence in three sizes, then the alphabet, digits and punctuation. Type in the box (Type to try it in your own words) to see your own words in it
3D modelThe model turning slowly in a lit room. Drag to turn it yourself and scroll to zoom. If it has animations, the first one plays
AudioIt starts playing. Drag along the bar to move through it
VideoPlaying on a loop, muted, as a piece plays it, with the browser's own controls to unmute or pause

The model is shown by a small piece running in the same frame every piece runs in, so what you see is what a piece will get. If it can't be shown, the viewer says so: the file may be damaged, or in a form the loader can't read.

The line at the foot gives the asset's details: its format, its size in pixels, its length, its file size, a model's triangles and animations, and the folder it's in.

Two buttons sit beside it: Download, and Use in prompt, which attaches the asset to your next message and closes the viewer. Opened from the asset picker, the viewer leaves Use in prompt out, since you're choosing there already.

Selecting several

In the Assets panel:

  • Click a tile to select it, and again to let it go.
  • Shift-click another tile to select every asset between the two.
  • Select all, in the bar that appears at the foot, takes everything on show.
  • Clear lets the whole selection go.

A selection holds while you change folder or filter, so you can gather assets from several folders before you act.

Downloading

  1. Select what you want

One asset or many, from one folder or several.

  2. Click the download button

In the bar at the foot of the panel it's Download for one asset and Download as a ZIP for more. The viewer's Download saves the asset on show.

  3. Wait for a ZIP

The bar counts the files as they're fetched ("Fetching 2 of 5…"), then the ZIP downloads.

What you get:

  • One asset downloads as the file it is, named as you named it, with its format's extension.
  • Several from one folder come as a ZIP named after the folder, with the files straight inside.
  • Several from different folders, or from none, come as vybe-assets.zip, with a folder inside for each of yours.
  • Two files that would have the same name are told apart with a number, as in "Logo (2).png".
  • A file that can't be fetched is left out of the ZIP, and the studio tells you how many were.

Generated images download as WebP, generated sound effects and music as MP3, and generated 3D models as GLB. Everything you uploaded comes back in the format it's kept in: the same file for most, a PNG for an SVG.
